Firenze
- this is the official site of the city of Florence and provides
everything you need to know to get around Florence, including museum
and shop hours, transportation, and related links.
Siena
- this site like the one above is the official one of the city of
Siena with lots of information.
FFSS
- the official Italian railroad site. It has an interesting and
useful feature - you can plug in the city of departure and the city
of destination and it will give you the list of all trains connecting
the two with hours of departure and arrival.
Ferries
- this site allows you to book your ferry online.
SNCF
- the French railway service.
Here is my personal Italian
site tip. Most Italian cities run web sites in a civic net. To get
information on any city in Italy, address to: http://www.comune.(name
of city).it/ The only thing you have to remember is to write the
Italian city name. This means that, if you want to find out what
is happening in Venice, you will type in http://www.comune.venezia.it
Most of the sites have loads of information and useful travel and
lodging tips, including fairly detailed maps that you can download
and print.
