This Provençal villa is in a lovely setting, on a hillside below the picturesque village of Saint Paul de Vence, see photo above right. From the pool terrace, there are wonderful views over the surrounding countryside and the mountains. The garden apartment has its own entrance and private parking space and is completely self-contained. The charming French owners live on the first floor and tenants have full use of their large pool. The property stands in a hectare of land but most of this is on a steep slope. There are attractive plants in the garden including a lemon tree and a banana tree. There is a small level lawn by the house and a very large terrace for relaxing by the pool. The pool has a 'Roman end' so access is easy. The style of furniture is a little old-fashioned but the accommodation is spacious and comfortable.

Accommodation
There is an open-plan living room which has a television, sofa, dining area and an attractive old fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with fridge, gas cooker, microwave and electric coffee maker. A counter bar separates it from the living room. This opens on to a private covered terrace with garden furniture for outdoor meals. There is one bedroom with a double bed, 140cm, and there is a spacious shower room with bidet, two basins and WC. The sofa in the living room converts to a very comfortable bed if two people don't wish to share the double bed.

Situation
The house is about 250m below Saint Paul de Vence, the medieval village made famous by artists such as Bonnard and Picasso, and home to the Maeght modern art museum. Saint Paul has a good selection of shops and restaurants. The world famous (and expensive!) Colombe d'Or is one of the nearest restaurants to the house. There is a steep pathway up to the village - if you take the car it is about 3km. The property is well placed for exploring the 'arrière pays' of Nice with its ancient perched villages such as Biot, Tourettes sur Loup and Gourdon. The nearest beach is at Cagnes-sur-Mer (pebbly), about 8km, and some of the best sandy beaches are at Antibes about 15km. Nice airport is about 25 minutes drive.

Electricity is included. Heating is extra, EUR 15 per week when necessary.
