Situated on the edge of the delightful medieval village of Le Bar-Sur-Loup,
in a peaceful and elevated position, this 18th century Provençal
house has been beautifully restored. There is a pretty garden, 3800m²,
with wide grassy terraces, olive trees, fruit and citrus trees, rose
bushes and lovely views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.
There is a jacuzzi which can seat 6 people and you can have hot or cold
water depending on the time of year. There is also a gas barbecue and
garden furniture for outdoor meals. There is parking within the property
but the driveway is quite steep so care is needed. The interior is furnished
and decorated with charm and good taste, and the new kitchen is exceptionally
well-equipped.
Accommodation
This is on two floors. The spacious L-shaped living/dining room has
comfortable seating, a television, a DVD and CD player, a large, open
fireplace, a grand piano and French windows opening to the garden. The
kitchen has a 4-ring hob, oven, microwave, a dishwasher, large fridge-freezer,
electric kettle and expresso coffee maker. There is a laundry room with
washer and drier. There are three bedrooms, two with a double bed and
one with twin beds which can be put together to make a kingsize bed.
(Please specify on the booking form if twins or a king size bed are
required.) This room has a washbasin. One of the doubles has a pretty
little sun terrace overlooking the garden. There is a 'study' on the
wide landing. A fax/answer machine and printer are available if required.
The house has two bathrooms with a bath and overhead shower. There are
three WCs. There are anti-mosquito screens on all the windows.
Situation
The property is situated about 500m from the village (see photo below).
Le Bar-sur-Loup is an interesting village with a 13th century castle
and picturesque narrow streets. There are many scenic walks on marked
paths in and around the village. There are a few local shops and a couple
of good restaurants within about 800m: 'La Jarrerie' and 'L'Amiral'
are good for Provençal specialities. There is a boulangerie and
a supermarket 1km. There are many interesting villages to visit nearby,
such as Gourdon in its spectacular position, Saint Paul de Vence, which
is a 'perched village' with art galleries and boutiques, and Tourettes
which has several artisan/craft shops. The spectacular scenery of the
Gorges du Loup is a few minutes drive. The nearest beaches are about
20km at Cagnes-sur-Mer (pebbles), and Antibes (sand) is about 25km.
There is much of cultural interest in this area: the Musée Renoir
at Cagnes-sur-Mer, the Chapelle du Rosaire, designed by Matisse, at
Vence, plus all the museums in Nice itself, about 25 minutes drive.
Linen and terms
Linen is provided including beach towels. Refundable damage deposit
EUR 300. Electricity and heating are included. Femme de ménage
