This delightful Provençal style house is in a commanding position
on a steep hillside with panoramic views over the wide valley
of the River Var, the mountains, and towards the sea in the distance.
The property is in a peaceful location and is sunny and south
facing. The garden apartment has its own entrance and direct access
to the large swimming pool. It has a lovely private terrace and
use of the garden. The charming French owners live on the first
floor and tenants have full use of the pool. There are loungers,
garden furniture for outdoor meals and a portable barbecue. There
is a steep path to the property and there are steps so disabled
access would be difficult.
Accommodation
There is a spacious living/dining room which has French windows
opening onto the terrace. It has comfortable furniture, with a
sofa bed, television (satellite) and a radio cassette player.
The modern kitchen is separated from this room by a counter bar;
it is well-equipped with fridge-freezer, 4-ring electric hob,
microwave and electric kettle. There is also a washing machine.
There is one bedroom with a double bed, 140cm, which has lovely
views, and there is a shower room and separate WC.
Situation
It is about 800m from Gattières which is a very picturesque
old village with a supermarket, shops and 2 or 3 good restaurants
- it is an uphill walk home. Vence is about 9km. Nice airport
is about 18 km. The old town of Nice is lively and picturesque,
and the city's museums would be of great interest to art lovers:
Musées Matisse, Dufy, and Chagall. The coast is about 16km.
The property is well placed for exploring the 'arrière
pays' of Nice with its ancient perched villages and, in complete
contrast in the other direction, the glamour of Monte-Carlo is
an easy and spectacular drive. Italy is a short drive and there
is an excellent market at Ventimiglia every Friday.
Linen and terms
Linen may be hired from the owners for a supplement of EUR 12
per person (except for pool towels.) Electricity is extra, EUR10
per week. Refundable damage deposit of EUR 150. Final clean EUR
25 if required. Sorry no pets.
