Garden apartment.
Sleeps 2 - 4.
1km beach.
Situated on a hillside above the town, with wonderful views of
the coast from St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to Cap d'Antibes, this apartment
is on the ground floor of an early 19th century bourgeois house.
The original owners used to cultivate palm trees. The house has
been restored to a high standard and is full of charm and character.
The décor is elegant and the interior is furnished with
antique furniture. The discreet French owners live in the main
part of the house. The apartment is on the lower left of the photo
above.
Accommodation
There is a spacious living room with a dining area. This room
has a wonderful ceiling with 'trompe l'oeil' paintings. There
are twin beds at the far end of the room so it may be used as
a second bedroom when the house is let to 4 people. There is a
brand new kitchen with 5 ring hob, oven, micowave, fridge-freezer,
dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a television. There
is a spacious bedroom with a double bed. There is a shower room
and WC. A cot is available upon request. There is a lovely private
terrace (top lefthand photo) which is shaded by a 'poivrier' or
pepper tree, for outdoor meals. All the rooms have doors opening
onto this terrace. (The terrace in the right hand photo is in
front of the owners' part of the house).
Situation
The property is situated high up above the western end of the
Promenade des Anglais. It is possible to walk down to town and
it is on a bus route so you can avoid the steep walk back. The
nearest shops for food shopping are about 600m. The old part of
the town 'Vieux Nice' is about 3km. This is a lively and interesting
area: the Cours Saleya has a flower market and there are lots
of good places to eat with a strong Italian influence on the local
specialities. There are many art galleries and musuems in the
town, in particular the Musées Matisse, Chagall and Raoul
Duffy. The beaches in Nice are pebbly; the best place to swim
is the Plage de la Réserve, beyond the port. The hinterland
of Nice is well worth exploring and the sleepy medieval hilltop
villages, such as Peillon and Lucéram, provide an interesting
contrast to the cosmopolitan town.
