This 19th century farmhouse is situated in Haute Provence in a
fruit growing area (peaches and apples) to the north east of Aix-en-Provence.
The house has been has been delightfully renovated retaining many
original features including exposed stone walls and oak beams. It
is newly decorated and attractively furnished with traditional furniture.
The house stands in enclosed grounds of about 2.5 acres. There is
a superb swimming pool, very large for a private house, complete
with diving board. The garden and pool may be lit up at night. There
is a barbecue and garden furniture for outdoor meals and for lounging
by the pool. There is also a ping-pong table, a boules pitch and
three adult bikes which the owner leaves for tenants' use. There
is an automatic gateway and a large garage for two cars and plenty
of parking space. (N.B. At the back of the house there is a storage
shed for fruit and the growers come and collect it for market in
the mornings. This is not visible from the property but you may
hear them in the morning.)
Accommodation
There is a spacious living room with dining area, comfortable seating,
open fireplace, television, video, DVD and CD player. This room
has French windows opening onto a large south facing terrace. There
is a farmhouse kitchen with 4-ring hob, built in oven, microwave,
large American fridge, freezer and electric kettle. There is a dishwasher
and a washing machine. The house has four bedrooms, all on the first
floor: one with a king size bed, 160cm, two with a double bed, 140cm,
and the fourth with twin beds. There is a bathroom which has a corner
bath, shower cubicle, two basins and a separate WC. There is also
a downstairs shower room and WC. A cot and a high chair are available
and there is also a folding single bed if people don't want to share
a double bed. There is oil fired central heating.
Situation
The house is 800m from a supermarket and a restaurant. The nearest
boulangerie is 1.5km. Manosque, a medium sized town about 6km, has
good shopping facilities and tennis courts. There is a golf course
and horse riding at Pierrevert, 12km. This is an uncommercialised
region with many interesting places to visit within an easy drive:
the spectacular Verdon Gorges and the Lac de Sainte Croix, the picturesque
old villages of the Haut Var such as Aups and Cotignac, and the
lively cultural town of Aix-en-Provence.
Linen and terms
Linen is provided except for pool towels. Refundable damage deposit
EUR 600 (cash). Electricity and heating are extra. Final clean EUR
60 (compulsory). Femme de ménage available for extra hours approx.
EUR 12 per hour. Pets accepted EUR 45 per stay.
